BOOM! roasted!

This title has nothing to do with this post....

Kateland had a dream and I was in it... Here's her account of the weird/awesome/random-ness

My dream...

Okay so you me and Holly all decided to go to Coachella only this year it was in Nashville, not Cali. Oh and Nashville was near the ocean. Hanson and Sherwood had joined forces and made a band called Hanswood. The day of Coachella we went but all the bands except Hanswood canceled so the majority of people left. They decided to play on a new stage that was floating in the middle of the ocean. We were not happy about that so we decided to swim out to a buoy and hang on to it during the show. We got to the buoy and it disappeared but we found a random metal thing floating so we tried to get on it but there was a sign saying it was closed for Coachella so we swam to the stage to try and hold on to it. As we approached the stage we see that everyone in Hanswood had taken on the appearance of Mikey so there were like 10 Mikeys rocking out. We went to take pictures then realized all our cameras broke because we had swam around with them in our pockets. We heard a siren and a cop was coming on a jet ski to arrest us for trespassing. We were freaking out and as the jet ski got closer we saw that it wasn't a human cop but it was the shark from Finding Nemo who was riding a jet ski. Then I woke up.

Whaaaat?! Haha

and so it begins...

slacking on blogging...
not making YouTube videos...
"forgetting" to exercise....
pretending to eat healthy, but not really...
it's definitely the end of January when all resolutions fail...

I need MOTIVATION!

Community

Why is it so wrong to be passionate about something?  Are people just too scared to show their differences?  The people who are truly passionate about what they do, their work, their interests, hobbies are the people who inspire me most.  It's exhausting hiding all these different parts of myself.  I'm tired of acting cool and I just want to be me.  The only times I feel that I can are around people who don't live remotely close to me.  The biggest thing that bothers me in this sense is Hanson, just because it's just seems so taboo to like them in today's society.

I suppose that's why I like YouTube so much.  I can be myself, I can create something, I can edit out what I don't like and add in more of what I do.  The Nerdfighter community is so amazing just in the fact that people aren't shunned for having different interests or passions.  I have this friend who lives in California.  Her name is Tiffany.  On a Skype chat a few months ago we were just chatting, saying hi and such.  On my videos I don't try to hide that I like Hanson, though it's not really a main topic.  When I started YouTube I decided that I was going to be myself and if people accepted me for it, then yay!  If not, that was fine too, but I wasn't going to try and put on a show.  Anyway, Tiff told me out of the blue that though she didn't really like their music, she admired how much I enjoyed them.  It's things like that that I truly appreciate and I am so glad that I've found a community where I am fully accepted.  Who would have ever though that I could make some of my best friends in the world over the internet?  Between HNet and YouTube, I have such a support system.  The majority of people I talk to everyday I have never met.

So, Thanks go out to you all.

Tax Season is here! Let's celebrate!

So, I am a dork and like doing taxes.  I like doing taxes more that auditing.  What I don't like it having to work 55 hours a week for 3 months doing audits and not taxes....

So in rebellion today I have spent the past hour looking at entertaining things on facebook and twitter, and contemplating my place in the Harry Potter universe.  Here's what I've come up with:

  • I am a Ravenclaw
  • The majority of my family is Gryffindor, though I suspect my mother to be a Hufflepuff
  • I am also Ginny Weasley
    • ...but I don't like Harry, so maybe I'm a twin or something...  it's my imagination, I'll do what I want
Oh no, I'm arguing at people who haven't even read this yet... I'm also assuming that they're Harry Potter nerds like I am (I really hope you are)

Okay.. that's about all I got.  I wish I could get this excited about work.  If work was a YouTube collab video, or a design project, or an art mural, or a color-coded spreadsheet (well, lets face it, most of my work is a spreadsheet...) I would be overjoyed to be here.

things about me you don't know....

{{NOTE: after reading this back, I think I should have been an English major}}

------------------

I like filling out forms.  Proof: when I go to airports I fill out all of those credit card and magazine subscription application things.  Multiple times.  I can't help myself.  I love it.

I especially love newly opened yellow legal pads.  They are best for writing.

One of my favorite books is completely about grammar.  "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves"  <3

I love semicolons; I use them frequently.
I also love dashes... and ellipses. :)

I like writing.  I don't mean the kind of writing I'm doing here (though it is also thoroughly enjoyable), I mean writing in general.  I love writing.
Example: writing out song lyrics from memory, bible verses that help me, lists, everything.

I don't think anyone knows these things about me though.
Isn't it strange how some of the things we love we never tell anyone about?
What don't people know about you?

Food for thought I suppose....

ok people....

2010 is here! And you know what that means!!! ..Well, you probably don't, but do not fear, I'm going to tell you! :)

Resolutions that will be kept (because they are completely do-able and semi-vague and I like them):
1. Blog once a week
2. Continue with project "get sexy" (see previous post)
3. Sleep more, procrastinate less, read more, and whine less
4. Re-Design http://www.youtube.com/ilessthanthreeyouu
5. Make better content for noted YouTube site. :)

So... 3 of the 5 are internet related, but seeing as I truly enjoy blogging, and designing, and vlogging/editing video, that's okay with me.

I should be doing other things right now (like working), but lately I've felt like my career is boring. Not in the sense that as a profession overall the field of accounting is boring (which it kind of is to most people), just that what I do every day is boring. I miss talking to customers and solving the million problems that come up every day at our family business, and seeing my family, and yadda yadda.... At the same time I am hesitant to leave my job because, lets face it, it's so difficult to find a job right now. I have dreams to move away and start over (Nashville calls my name daily), but I've seen my friends do this, and they're homesick, lonely, miserable, and eventually crawl back home defeated.

Basically, I've followed the rules my whole life, and now I'm beginning to think that maybe following all the rules has gotten me stuck. No one is limiting me in what I can do but me (and my family, but that's another blog).

On a completely different topic, I've been reading a lot more blogs lately (mainly JeffreySelf, AlanDistro, and hfrees), and I think this is how I'm going to get my need for writing out. Writing a 50,000 word novel in a month (national novel writing month, or NaNoWriMo was in November) failed miserably for me, but this I can do and be creative without all the constraints of fiction or plot or theme.

I learn a lot from blogging, which I didn't expect.
I learn a lot about myself, which I really didn't expect.

I like it
that is all
